We have a kitchen backsplash! Yeah! At first, we were going to just paint the backsplash for Thanksgiving and tile it later. After Eric painted we decided to look again at some tile and maybe we could just do it ourselves. We found a glass mosaic that Eric and I both liked. Then we had to agree on the design it would have on the wall. The hardest part was deciding on what to do on the wall behind the stove. I had visions of what I wanted, but the tile doesn't exist unless you have it specially made of course. So we just bought a bunch of different glass tiles to mix and play with. Before Eric put it up, it seemed too dark and I just didn't know if it was going to work. However, once the tile started going up, it lightened up a bit, especially once it was grouted! Eric did a great job! We saved about $700 doing it ourselves! Now I can stop worrying about getting the walls wet behind the sink.

Eric has also been continuing his work on the molding for the doors and windows. We bought some molding awhile ago that has been sitting in the hallway to put on top of the window and door moldings downstairs. I had to convince him at first to get the moldings, and I'm so glad I did. They look fantastic. He was worried they were going to be difficult to cut, but he said they actaully weren't bad. He did however almost really hurt himself when the project was almost done. He tried to cut a tiny piece of what was left for the edge and the piece of wood shot out at him. Luckily, it didn't hit him in the face. (wearing no goggles, no gloves, that's a no no) It wacked his finger pretty hard.

There are still sooo many things we need to work on. Step by step... we are making progress!
